Smart
Notebook Tips and Tricks 1.25 hours
This
session will be led by James Hollis, national presenter and webmaster of the
Teachers Love SMARTBoards web page.
He is also author of the newsletter that I have been sending out to you
USERS that always has a great SMARTboard notebook lesson attached. He will share some with you so you can
walk away with something to use the next day. The session will be appropriate
for those of you who are present users and want to see what resources you can
gain from Jim as well as those of you who just want to be wowed about the
possibilities should you get a SMARTBoard in the
future.
SMART Board Layer and Grouping 3 hours
Tips
and tricks with Notebook software to make words and pictures appear and
disappear. Helps to keep audience’ interest and is a GREAT teaching tool.
Grouping objects and understanding layering of Notebook software helps in
creating high interest presentations and helps to engage the learner. Come with
ideas to create your own curriculum related notebook pages.
Smart Response 3 hours
SMART Response is an
interactive assessment tool that allows for insight into student learning and increases overall retention
and engagement.
Using the wireless
remotes gives both the students and teachers instant feedback for both
formative and summative assessments. Assessments are graded and stored in an
electronic grade book as soon as students are finished. No more weekends spent
grading! This product can be used on any computer that has Notebook and
Response software. NOTE: A SMART Board is not required to use this
assessment system.
This session will focus on creating
assessments with SMART Response and SMART Notebook software. (Prior to the
workshop, please see your LRC Director for directions on setting up a SMART
Response grade book.) Learn how to create ISAT practice tests or assessments
that align to your curriculum. True/False, Yes/No, Multiple Choice
and Multiple Answer formats will be presented. Please bring curriculum
related materials to the workshop for hands on time creating assessments.
Using the SMART Board to Engage
Students 3 hrs
This session offers Notebook
templates that use current technology to create interest. Facebook,
iphone, ipad Notebook
templates and others will be explored to encourage student engagement. This
class will include linking, capture tools, embedding videos and audio to the
file. Please bring curriculum ideas to use to
modify the templates.
WEB Pages (K-8) 3 hours
You have a web page…now what? An
opportunity to explore the upgrades
made to School Center.
Discover additional features you may not have tried; BLOGS, Document
Manager, Forums, adding links and more. Learn
how to use the Navigation tools to create Custom Links to other sites. Create a
Photo Album or add pictures to your pages. Please come prepared by having
some photographs that you want to put on your web site saved in your “My
Pictures” folder or on a USB drive. This session is appropriate for
all staff members who are responsible for a web page.
Using Edmodo
in Your Classroom
Social networking is pervasive in the
lives of all our students. As educators, it is our responsibility to give our students
the opportunity to learn how to use social networking in a responsible way. Edmodo is a private, secure, social networking platform
that teachers can use to connect with their students and other teachers. You
can post assignments, answer questions, share files, links and events. You can
even grade assignments and post student grades for them to review! Hear how you
can use Edmodo in your classroom to connect with my
students, simplify classroom management, promote student responsibility, and
work discussions of digital citizenship into every lesson. You will have lots
of time to set up your account and your classrooms.
VIDEO
Integration for Lesson Presentation 3 hrs
Video segments can truly enhance your
lessons. Learn how to download and integrate video segments from
Discovery Streaming and You Tube. You will learn to select a download
format and embed files into Smart Notebook and Power Point. The ability
to embed a video file versus linking to a video site will keep your lesson flowing
and you won’t need to wonder if the internet is going to cooperate. Please bring curriculum ideas with you
so that you can actually create a lesson that you can use next week or next
year.
Photo Story 1.25 hours
With Photo Story you can create a slideshow with your
digital pictures, edit your pictures, create your story with original music,
add narration, and share them with your students. In this class, we will use the software
to create an interactive video from beginning to end. We will also talk about ways to
integrate PhotoStory into your curriculum, and how to use the software in both
primary and intermediate grades.
Animoto 1.25
hours
Animoto is a video slide show maker that
allows you create a movie using images, video clips and music. You can share your videos on email, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, or embed them in a website or
blog. In this class, you will
create your own free Animoto account and a video.
CoWriter/Boardmaker/Earobics 3 hours
These
programs are invaluable resources for our At Risk students. Co:Writer
works in conjunction with any application you write in. It interprets spelling
and grammar mistakes and predicts word suggestions in real time. Boardmaker v.6 software
is widely regarded as the essential tool for adapting symbol-based printed
activities for students with special needs. Earobics is a powerful multisensory reading
intervention solution for raising academic achievement. Come and learn how to use them with
your students. This session is most
appropriate for anyone in our district who works with AT Risk or Special Needs
students.
Pixie 3 1.25 hours
Pixie 3 is the
newest upgrade to a program that combines a paint
program with text options, clip art, voice recording, and standards-based
curriculum activities, helping students build 21st century skills as they
develop podcasts, online storybooks, videos, and Flash animations. It was
created by Tech4Learning, Inc. (www.tech4learning.com)
Some
of the new features in Pixie 3 are the ability to create multi-page documents,
a collaboration feature that allows more than one student to work on the same
project at the same time, and a touch mode, for easier use with SmartBoards.
Smart Ideas/Kidspiration 1.25
Come and explore the concept mapping
tools of Kidspiration and Smart Ideas. Kidspiration is a visual way to explore and understand
words, numbers and concepts with students in grades kindergarten through
five. We will create graphic
organizers using engaging visual tools and explore Kidspiration's
math tools such as color tiles, pattern blocks, base ten blocks, fractions and
fraction boxes
With SMART Ideas, you can create
multilevel concept maps to display on your SmartBoard
that take students through concepts one step at a time. Included are over 2,000
resizable pieces of clip art, all organized by curriculum topic.
Add links or attachments to your maps to take students directly to a video or
other multimedia file.
Email Distribution Lists/GFI Archiver/Quarantined Email 1.25 hrs
Participants will learn how to create
distribution lists in Outlook Email, search and utilize features of the GFI Archiver, and receive training on working with your
Quarantined Emails.
Web Resources for Differentiation
1.25 hrs
During this session participants will
receive training on how to utilize NetTrekker, Tumblebooks, and Advanced Searches in Google for
differentiation for whole class or small group instruction.
Global Compliance Network
This option is only available for
Support Personnel. You may use this
time to complete your Global Compliance Network training. You can do this at any computer in the
district that is not in a lab or room where Tech Feast training sessions are
occurring.
